2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF JESUS CHRIST’S RESURRECTION.
Several scriptures in the Old Testament prophesied about Jesus’ resurrection.
Psalm 16:10 “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”
Psalm 68:18 “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.”
Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.”
Jesus spoke, taught and prophesied His Resurrection.
John 2:19-22 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.”
John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:”
Matthew 12:40 “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF JESUS CHRIST’S RESURRECTION TO BELIEVERS:
1. EVERY WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS PROVES TO US THAT EVERY WORD OF GOD ABIDES FOREVER.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
1 Peter 1:23 “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”
2. GOD’S WORD MUST SURELY COME TO PASS. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS PROVES THAT GOD’S WORD AND WILL CANNOT BE STOPPED.
Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
Job 42:2 “I know that you can do every thing and that your plans are unstoppable.” GW
3. THE SAME SPIRIT THAT RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD WILL QUICKEN OUR MORTAL BODIES.
Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
1 Corinthians 6:14 “And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.”
4. IF WE DIED WITH CHRIST, WE WILL LIVE WITH HIM.
CHRIST’S RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD IS PROOF THAT CHRIST LIVES FOREVER AND WE WILL LIVE AND REIGN WITH CHRIST FOREVER.
Romans 6:8-9 “Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe thatwe shall also live with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.”
2 Corinthians 4:13-14 “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.”
John 11:25-26 ““Martha,” Jesus said, “You don’t have to wait until then. I am the Resurrection, and I am Life Eternal. Anyone who clings to me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever. And the one who lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”” TPT
5. DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY BY THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST.
THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS PROVES TO US THAT DEATH IS NOT FINAL.
Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.”
1 Corinthians 15:54 “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”
6. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS PROVES THAT BELIEVERS’ FAITH IN GOD IS SUBSTANTIVE AND NOT IN VAIN.
IT SHOWS THAT BELIEVERS HAVE NOT BELIEVED A LIE, BUT HAVE BELIEVED THE TRUTH.
1 Corinthians 15:12, 14-15 “The message we preach is Christ, who has been raised from the dead. So how could any of you possibly say there is no resurrection of the dead? And if Christ has not been raised, all of our preaching has been for nothing and your faith is useless. Moreover, if the dead are not raised, that would mean that we are false witnesses who are misrepresenting God. And that would mean that we have preached a lie, stating that God raised him from the dead, if in reality he didn’t.” TPT
7. THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS MADE HIM TO GO TO HEAVEN, THEREBY SENDING THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GIVING GIFTS TO BELIEVERS.
Ephesians 4:8 “This is why he says: “He ascends into the heavenly heights taking his many captured ones with him, and gifts were given to men.”” TPT
John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”
THANKS BE TO GOD, WHO HAS GIVEN US VICTORY THROUGH THE COMING, DEATH, AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST!
